Beloved Jersey Shore mother of six Catherine ‘Ren’ Olivia Freeman died on Saturday, Feb. 12 after a “long and hard” COVID-19 battle. She was 35. Freeman grew up in Brick Township, went to Brookdale Community College, and later moved to Tinton Falls, where she lived at the time of her death, according to her social media page. Freeman was remembered as an incredible and creative soul who loved deeply and touched many lives. “She is and will forever be a poet, wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, friend, rebel, artist, singer, teacher, leader, activist, joker, miracle,” reads her obituary.…

Jersey Shore Woman, 30, Indicted In Fatal Head-On Crash: Prosecutor
A 30-year-old woman from Monmouth County has been indicted for causing the death of another woman while driving under the influence, authorities said. Ashley Watkins, of Eatontown, was indicted for vehicular homicide, strict liability vehicular homicide and assault by auto, they said. The fatal crash occurred on May 9, 2021, in Brick Township, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Killed in the crash was Nancy Penrod, 78, of Brick, Billhimer said. Sheriff's Officer Who Founded Mounted Unit Killed In Lakewood Crash
An off-duty Ocean County Sheriff's officer who started his agency's mounted unit was killed in a pre-dawn Valentine's Day crash, authorities said. Brian Stockhoff, 41, was heading south on Shorrock Street when his 2005 Toyota Sienna struck a brick wall outside of the Leisure Village East community at the border of Lakewood and Brick Township around 3:45 a.m., Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. Stockhoff's vehicle came to a stop near Dumbarton Drive in 2014. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene a short time later. A water rescue involving an overturned kayak was underway on the Jersey Shore, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The rescue was reported at about 1:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 at Midstreams Road and Princeton Avenue in Brick Township, initial reports said. Firefighters, police and EMS crews were called to a serious fire in Ocean County, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The fire broke out about 3 p.m. on the 100 block of Walnut Drive in Brick Township, initial reports said. The home was reported to be "fully involved" with flames, an unconfirmed report said. A brush fire that closed the Garden State Parkway for hours last night was caused by arsonists, New Jersey State Police say. Troopers responded to the fire near milepost 91 in Brick Township around 5 p.m. Wednesday. A portion of the Garden State Parkway was closed overnight Wednesday, backing up traffic for miles as firefighters battled a brush fire. The fire was reported just after 5 p.m. ner Exit 91 in Brick Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said. Police in Brick Township are on the hunt for a gunman who fired three shots into a vehicle during what they are calling a road rage incident Saturday night.
