A trucker was badly burned when his tanker burst into flames after it was struck by another vehicle Friday night at a gas station off Route 1&9 in Elizabeth, responders said. Massive flames from the fully-involved truck fire at the BP station near Bayway Circle spread to and gutted a nearby two-family home on South Elmora Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Nine people -- three of them children -- reportedly were displaced. Paterson Child, 2, Falls From Second-Floor Window, Detectives Investigating
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and Paterson police detectives were investigating a fall that a 2-year-old child took out a second-floor window on Thursday. The toddler was alert and conscious while being taken via city Fire Department ambulance to the trauma unit at nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. A Bergenfield driver refused medical attention after she inadvertently hit the gas, sending her car through the back of her garage on Wednesday. A 59-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition Monday after falling through an elevator shaft in a Butler building while helping a person who had their hands stuck in the doors, authorities said. A small SUV plowed into an Old Tappan mixed-use building on Friday. The older-model Hyundai continued through a handicapped parking space, mounted a small curb and hit the façade of the Old Tappan Road building between two columns at the entrance. A Lakewood boy's 11th birthday party ended with a fall from a balcony that left him critically injured, police said. Police were called to the Yeshiva Apartments on Princeton Avenue about 6 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a serious fall, Lakewood police said. A Palisades Park grandfather was paralyzed when he fell from a slide while playing with his grandchild at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, authorities confirmed. Crash Splits Hawthorne Utility Pole
A 22-year-old driver refused hospitalization for a neck injury after a sedan split a utility pole Monday afternoon in Hawthorne. A PSE&G unit was summoned to assess the damage to the pole, although there was no loss of power in the area after the crash in the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue. Toms River Father Of 5 Dies Weeks After Being Crushed By Vehicle In His Own Driveway
A father of five from Toms River has died just two weeks after he was crushed by the pickup truck he was fixing in his driveway. Juan “Pablo” Granados-Chavez, 40, had been working on the truck in the driveway of his Genoa Avenue home when the vehicle rolled off its ramps and landed on top of him on Jan. 23. He was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by helicopter in critical condition after the accident. Pablo died in the hospital from his injuries Thursday night, authorities said. Tractor-Trailer Flips On NJ Turnpike In East Brunswick, Driver Injured
State police are investigating the cause of an accident with injuries on the New Jersey Turnpike. A tractor-trailer was reported to have overturned near the Exit 9 toll plaza in East Brunswick about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
