Update: Tractor Trailer Driver Airlifted After Overturning On Route 287 In Edison UPDATED: A 59-year-old driver was extricated from his overturned cement truck in Edison and airlifted to a local hospital, authorities said. Police, firefighters and EMS responded to the southbound side of Route 287 along the ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike about 10 a.m. Friday, state troopers said. The driver, who's name was not released, was awake at the time of transport and the ramp remains closed, Sgt. Lawrence Peele, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said on Friday afternoon. Woman's Body Pulled From Water Off Jersey Shore A recovery team pulled a woman’s body from Barnegat Bay in Toms River on Tuesday. Authorities couldn’t immediately say how she ended up near the Route 37 Mathis Bridge. Toms River police and firefighters, the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company and a New Jersey State Police marine unit initially responded to the bridge’s south side shortly before 11:30 a.m., township police said in a statement. The body was brought to the Aqua Blue marina, where Ocean County Crime Scene Investigation officers and a member of the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office met them.

The 35-year-old Bergenfield worker for Arrow Tree Service in Old Tappan was nearly 30 feet up when he fell and tree limb landed on top of him at a Waiku Road home off Carlton Terrace at 8:40 a.m., Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. He was killed instantly, responders said. Village police, firefighters and ALS and BLS units responded. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and co-workers.

Warren County Mechanic Hospitalized After Tire Explodes In His Face A Warren County mechanic was hospitalized after a tire exploded in his face, State Police said. The 59-year-old mechanic was transported to Morristown Medical Center with facial injuries after a tire accidentally blew up on him around 2:10 Saturday afternoon, at Pryslak Sod Farms, in Great Meadows, Trooper Alejandro Goez said. The mechanic was "conscious and talking" following the Shades of Death Road incident, which was deemed accidental and non-suspicious, Goez said. The cause was not immediately known, Goez said.

Man Struck By Rockland-To-Hoboken Train A man was hospitalized after he was struck by a commuter train Sunday night in Paterson. The Main Line #1732 train had left Suffern at 9:07 p.m. and was due to arrive in Hoboken at 10:19 p.m. when it struck the man just west of the Paterson train station shortly before 10 p.m., NJ Transit’s Lisa Torbic said. Responders said they got the victim out from under the train and took him to nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. None of the 16 people were injured and service wasn’t affected, Torbic said. NJ Transit police were investigating, she said.
