Police were looking for three men who held a FedEx driver at gunpoint, tied him up, and stole items from his delivery truck in Edison, authorities said. The driver, a 35-year-old Elizabeth man, was swapping trailers on Greek Lane when three men approached him at around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, Edison police said. A tractor-trailer caught fire in Edison, shutting down most lanes of a busy road during morning rush hour, officials said. The fire happened on Route 1 south of the intersection with Grandview Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 5, the state Department of Transportation said. An alert was posted about the incident at 8:28 a.m. The NJDOT reported all northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed. Three southbound lanes were shut down, leaving only one lane open. A family was rallying for support after a former Edison firefighter died, according to a fundraising campaign. Ray Tibok, 58, died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 8, a GoFundMe page said. He had served as a firefighter for the Edison Township Fire Department for 30 years before retiring in May 2022. A large water main broke in Edison, displacing residents and dousing two homes, officials said. The 30-inch water main break happened on Woodbrook Drive on Monday, Aug. 12, Mayor Sam Joshi said in a Facebook post at 5:04 p.m. The mayor shared three photos showing water heavily spraying a blue home.
