NJ Woman Left Child Locked In Vehicle At Wegman's In Below Freezing Temps: Police
A 42-year-old Rockaway woman was arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 23 after leaving a child unattended, locked in a vehicle, authorities said. Officers responded to Wegmans at 34 Sylvan Way in Whippany and found the child locked in the vehicle, the Hanover Township Police Department said. The high that day was 27 degrees. Tatiana Petrina was charged with child abandonment and released with a court date, police said. The child was unharmed during the incident, police said.

Double Murder Gets Toms River Man 30 Years: Prosecutor
A 42-year-old Toms River man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday, Jan. 9 for his role in the murder of two people in 2021, authorities said. Tyshaun Drummond was convicted of two counts of murder following a month long trial, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said. Drummond was also sentenced to 10 years in prison, to run consecutively, for being convicted of burglary, Billhimer said. Pedestrian Critical After Struck By Vehicle On Route 9: Prosecutor
A 77-year-old Howell Township man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 9 on the early morning of Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. At 4:51 a.m., Howell Township police responded to Route 9 and Strickland Road after a driver, who was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 9, collided with the man, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said. The man remains hospitalized with multiple injuries, Santiago said. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with law enforcement officers, Santiago said.

An Asbury Park man was accused of arson and burglary after a fire destroyed a Deal home, authorities said. Nasyr-Alaire Fisher, 20, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 29, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release. Hoboken Police Officer Dies
The Hoboken Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Officer Frank Francolino died at home while off-duty on Saturday, Dec. 28, the department said on X. Police were investigating after a man was shot and killed in Trenton, authorities said. Shakeem Lemach Davis of Trenton died in the shooting on Sunday, Dec. 22, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta Marbrey said in a news release. An age wasn't given for Davis.
