A 57-year-old Butler resident was driving while intoxicated when he drove head-on into a police car in Morris County on Friday, July 26, sending the officer and his own passenger to the hospital, authorities said. While Butler police were conducting speed enforcement, Charles Dampman was driving a black Ford Explorer when he entered the opposite lane of travel on Bartholdi Avenue and struck police officer Justin Brunda's parked vehicle head-on at a high rate of speed, officers said. Scrap Metal Company VP, 24, Killed In Jersey Shore Weekend Crash
The vice president of a scrap metal company died in a crash in Ocean County, authorities said. Kevin Scoda, 24, of Edison, was killed in the crash on Route 72, the Stafford Township Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, July 23. Officers responded to the scene near milepost 24.5 at around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. A 73-year-old driver from Somerset County died of his injuries on Sunday, July 21 — five days after a single-car crash on Interstate 287 in Middlesex County, authorities said. Bill Schocklin was driving south near milepost 8.8 in Pisscataway at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 when his Nissan veered off I-287, struck a guard rail and overturned, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Five people were injured in a three-car crash on the Garden State Parkway in Central Jersey, authorities said. New Jersey State troopers responded to a crash on Sunday, July 14 at 4:40 p.m. on the parkway southbound at milepost 126.5 in Sayreville, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesman. A total of five passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information available at this time.

DUI Driver Crashed Stolen Car On Route 1: Police
Authorities have identified the driver of a stolen car that crashed into a utility pole along Route 1 in Central Jersey. Jordan White, 35, of Paterson, crashed on Friday,, June 28, South Brunswick police said. He was seriously injured, they said. White allegedly was under the influence of drugs, police said, and the 2007 Lincoln Town car he was driving was stolen. He was charged with receiving stolen property, driving under the influence, and numerous motor vehicle violations, police said.

Car Rolls Over Man Trying To Prevent GF From Leaving In South Brunswick, Cops Say
A 46-year-old man from South Brunswick was hospitalized after a car rolled over him as he sat in front of it in an attempt to prevent his girlfriend from leaving, police said. The man and his 37-year-old girlfriend were arguing outside of a Harvey Road home around 7:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, when the man sat in front of the vehicle, according to police. The woman got out of the car to tell him to move but had left the car in drive, police said. That's when the car rolled over the man, leaving him seriously injured. He ws rushed to RWJUH. No charges were filed as of press time.

Driver Falls Asleep, Causes Power Outage For 1,000 In Barnegat, Police Say
Nearly 1,000 people are without power in Barnegat Sunday morning, June 30 due to a car that ran off the road when its driver fell asleep at the wheel and struck a utility pole, police said. The 23-year-old woman crashed a 2019 Honda eastbound on West Bay Avenue, snapping the pole and leaving 1,000 homes in the dark, police said. Atlantic City Electric was on scene making repairs and restoring power to the area. The driver was treated on scene by Quality Medical but refused further medical attention.

Driver Cited, Hospitalized After Vehicle Overturns: Montgomery PD
A 55-year-old Philadelphia resident was cited for careless driving after his vehicle overturned in Montgomery on Monday, June 24, authorities said. At 6:39 a.m., first responders were on scene at Spring Hill Road after a 2020 Toyota Highlander overturned, Montgomery police said in a release. The driver was traveling north on Spring Hill Road when he failed to maintain the lane of travel, driving off the roadway, police said. There was a crash and a traffic signal knocked down along Route 35 in Central Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 northbound north of Route 650 (Chain-O-Hills Road) in Woodbridge Township, according to the NJDOT. Woodbridge police said there were no serious injuries.
