Child Airlifted, 2 Women Injured In Dog Attack At Hicksville Home A young girl was seriously injured in a dog attack that also hurt two women on Long Island. Emergency crews were called to a Hicksville residence on Lantern Road for a dog bite at around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Nassau County Police said officers found a girl and two women suffering from bites. They also located two dogs inside the home. The girl was flown by helicopter to Cohen Children’s Hospital in Queens with serious injuries to her face. The two adult victims were also hospitalized with leg injuries. Hit-Run Driver Sought After 19-Year-Old Critically Injured On Sunrise Highway In Freeport A month after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island highway, the suspect is still at large. The incident happened on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 14. Nassau County Police said the victim was crossing Sunrise Highway near the intersection of Bayview Avenue when a dark colored SUV traveling northbound struck him. The wreck happened in North Massapequa, in the eastbound lanes near exit 29, at around 8:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. New York State Police said a Nissan 350z left the roadway and crashed into the tree line. Troopers arrived to find the vehicle engulfed in flames with the male driver lying outside of the car dead. Seen Her? 17-Year-Old Girl From Bay Shore Missing Nearly Month Authorities are asking for help in locating a missing teenager from Long Island. Kayla Worilds, age 17, of Bay Shore, was last seen on Sept. 18, according to Suffolk County Police. She was previously reported missing in January. Worilds is 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said she may be in Brooklyn or Queens. Box Cutter-Wielding Man Breaks Into Speonk Home, Threatens Resident, Police Say A suspect was arrested days after a home break-in on Long Island. The incident happened in Speonk, at around 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, according to Southampton Town Police. Investigators said a resident called 911 saying a man known to them had illegally entered their home and threatened them with a box cutter. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled. Nobody was injured in the ordeal. On Saturday, Oct. 12, police arrested 42-year-old Bernard Colletti on suspicion of burglary and menacing. Colletti was arraigned the following morning.
