Delayed Opening For These NJ Districts Where Heavy Snow Fell
The New Jersey school district in the town that got the most snow in the state over the weekend, and some in those around it, will operate on a delayed schedule Monday, Jan. 8. "All Sussex-Wantage Regional Schools will have a 90 minute delayed opening tomorrow Monday January 8th," the district announced on its website. "Morning care is closed. Pair Of $50K Powerball Tickets Sold In Sussex County
Two Powerball tickets good for $50,000 each were sold in Sussex County. The tickets, from the Wednesday, Oct. 11 drawing, were sold at Sunrise Mart on Route 23 in Montague and QuickChek on Route 206 in Augusta, lottery officials said. The winning numbers were: 22, 24, 40, 52, and 64. The Red Power Ball number was 10, and the Power Play was 2X.

Born in Livingston, Kenneth graduated from High Point Regional High School in 1999 before moving to Dingmans Ferry, PA, his obituary says. Motorcyclist Airlifted After Colliding With Mazda In Sussex County: State Police
A motorcyclist was flown to a nearby hospital after colliding with a Mazda in Sussex County late Monday morning, Sept. 4, state police said. The motorcyclist and Mazda collided on Route 23 northbound near milepost 48.9 in Montague just before 11:25 a.m., NJSP Det. I Jeffrey Lebron told Daily Voice. The motorcyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Lebron added. No further details were released.

Motorcyclist, 23, Seriously Injured After Crashing Into Sussex County Embankment: State Police
A 23-year-old man was seriously injured after his motorcycle veered off the highway and into an embankment over the weekend, state police said. The Passaic man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Route 23 when it ran off the right, overturned, and hit an embankment near milepost 49.1 in Montague around 6 p.m. Saturday, August 26, NJSP SFC Philip Curry told Daily Voice. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries, Curry added. The crash remains under investigation. No further details were released.

Beloved Sussex County native and addiction recovery advocate Connor Matthew Bubigkeit died following his own long battle on Dec. 2 at the age of 30. Sussex County Tractor-Trailer Crash Shuts Down Route 206
A car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer Thursday morning, causing a nearly 2-hour shutdown of Route 206 southbound in Sussex County, state police said. The driver of a Subaru Impreza slammed into the back of the truck near milepost 128.7 in Montague around 5:20 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Lawrence Peele told Daily Voice. The road was reopened around 7:10 a.m., Peele said. No serious injuries were reported in the crash, which remained under investigation.

State Police: Sussex County Man Ejected, Seriously Injured In Route 284 Motorcycle Crash
A Sussex County man was seriously injured after crashing a motorcycle into a snowbank off Route 284 Sunday morning, state police said. John Veres Jr., 50, was driving a Honda motorcycle northbound on Rt. 284 when he veered to the right and hit a snowbank near milepost 2.3 in Wantage around 11:10 a.m., NJSP Philip Curry told Daily Voice. Veres Jr., of Montague, was ejected in the crash and sustained serious injuries, Curry said. The road was closed for about three hours following the crash, which remains under investigation, Curry said.

A motorcyclist was flown to Morristown Medical Center after hitting a deer Monday night in Montague, authorities said. Operators Of Waste Transfer Station In Sparta Fined $712K
Two companies that haul construction waste established an illegal transfer station in Sparta and dumped some of the material at residential sites throughout Sussex County, the state Department of Environmental Protection said. The agency issued Sinai Trucking a penalty of $527,000 and the second company, Keila Transport, a $185,000 fine. Sinai’s owner and president are Angel A. Bravo-Gomez and Anthony Gomez, respectively. Flames Shoot Out Front Door Of Hardyston House
A Hardyston townhouse was damaged in a fire Saturday night. Flames were shooting out the front door of the Sugar Maple Lane home (in Crystal Springs) when firefighters arrived around 8:40 p.m. The townhouse was damaged as a result of the fire. Details were not immediately available as of Sunday morning. Companies from Hamburg, Franklin, Ogdensburg, Vernon, Mcafee, Pochuck Valley, Sparta, Sussex and Montague also responded.
