Motorcyclist, 45, Killed In Route 1 Crash: Police A 45-year-old motorcyclist from Essex County was killed in a crash on Route 1 in Edison, authorities said. Alexander Chong of Belleville was killed when he struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at a red light, Edison police said. He ended up under the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 northbound near Old Post Road North.
