Police have identified the 45-year-old man fatally struck by two cars in Ocean County over the weekend. Paul Mount, of Toms River, was in the northbound lane of County Route 571 when he was struck by a black 2018 Ford Explorer and a black 2021 Toyota Highlander around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 in Manchester Township, local police said. Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian killed while crossing a road in Toms River. Joseph L. Witty Jr. 39 of Toms River, died at about 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, while crossing Route 37, Toms River police said. He was not in a crosswalk when he was struck, police said. A Barnegat High School student was stabbed during a bathroom fight early Friday, May 27, authorities said. The school was put in a shelter in place as officials worked to break up the fight at 7:48 a.m., Barnegat police said. A 59-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. On Sunday, Feb. 20 at 3:53 p.m., Barnegat police responded to Barnegat Boulevard North and Cole Drive for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Police found the driver of one of the vehicles, Alice Toriello, 59, of Barnegat unconscious and unresponsive.
