Dozen People Sickened In Outbreak During Cruise Ship's Final Season
A dozen people were sickened in a gastrointestinal illness outbreak aboard a National Geographic cruise, federal health officials said. The outbreak happened on the National Geographic Sea Bird, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday, June 1. The Alaskan cruise departed on Tuesday, May 26, and returned to port on Sunday, May 31. Nine out of 66 passengers reported being ill during the voyage, along with three of the 24 crew members aboard the ship, which will be retired after the 2026 season.
