One of New Jersey's most wanted fugitives in a kidnapping and execution of a Queens, NY man was found dead in the Dominican Republic, authorities announced. Anthony Mota kidnapped the victim on Dec. 12, 1997, then bound and tortured him with others for days until they got a ransom amount of $23,000 from the victim's family, United States Marshal for the District of New Jersey Juan Mattos, Jr., and NJSP Superintendent Col. Barricaded NJ Driver Tased After Threatening Staten Island Police With Box Cutter: Report
A 20-year-old woman from Monmouth County was tased and arrested on Staten Island after barricading herself in a car with a box cutter, the Staten Island Advance reports. Diana Prokopenko, of Freehold, was on the side of Korean War Veterans Parkway in Huguenot on Wednesday, July 6 when she menaced police, the outlet said, citing an NYPD spokesman. Prokopenko faces charges of resisting arrest, menacing, obstructing governmental administration and possession of a weapon, the spokesman said. NJ Man Indicted For Attempted Murder In Unprovoked Stabbing Of Dog-Walker: Prosecutor
A 23-year-old New Jersey man was indicted on a first-degree attempted murder charge for an unprovoked stabbing of a victim walking his dog in May, authorities said. Safi N. Hill, of Hillsborough, attacked the man on Clawson Avenue around 2 p.m. May 4, in the Flagtown section of the township, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart said. Police in Newark recovered 10 illegal guns and arrested four men, some of whom pointed their firearms at people at threatened to hurt or kill them, all over Father's Day Weekend, authorities said. A Middlesex County man was found guilty of murdering his father and another man in 2019 before setting their home on fire, authorities said.
