Newark Ex-Con Gets 19 Years, No Parole, On Federal Gun, Drug Convictions
An ex-con from Newark was sentenced to 228 months in federal prison for trafficking cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl while carrying a loaded gun. Ricky Hubbard, 46, was convicted by jurors in U.S. District Court in March. He'll have to serve out the entire 19-year term because there's no parole in the federal prison system. A North Jersey dog sitter from hell has been charged with animal cruelty after a vicious fight led police to five dogs wearing shock collars tethered to a fence in his yard, authorities said. Vickens Moscova was dog sitting last December when one dog mauled another dog to death, police said. Moscova had also been attacked by the aggressive dog, trying to break up the fight, police said. Arrest Made In Killing Of NJ Software Engineer
A Perth Amboy man was charged with the shooting death of a 24-year-old Union software engineer, authorities announced Friday. Shannon Assing, 24, was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree burglary, according to Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Union Township Police Director Daniel Zieser. Isaiah Spicer was found with serious injuries on the 1200 block of Coolidge Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, authorities said.
