Wildwood this week passed a new ordinance that requires juveniles to be accompanied by a parent or guardian between midnight and 6 a.m. unless they're going to or coming from work or a local business. A proposed ordinance suggests closing beaches from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for everyone, in the interest of public safety. The 8:30 p.m. blaze on Monday, July 24 on Laketree Court was caused by "improperly discarded smoking materials," Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. When firefighters arrived, parts of the first and second floors of the home had collapsed into the basement, and it was deemed unsafe to continue the fire investigation until daylight hours. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental. At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, police units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 35 S and Fifth Avenue for a reported motor vehicle accident with a bicyclist.
