Aurora Marcos Travis, of Newton, died on Thursday, June 27, after being struck by a 25-year-old driver who failed to yield as she crossed Madison Street in a marked crosswalk, local police said. The driver had been turning left from Elm Street around 11 a.m., Newton police said. Travis was taken to Newton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, while the driver was issued a summons for failure to yield, police said. Police requested a temporary lockdown of Newton Medical Center after receiving a report that a possible tenant of 183 High St. may have been seen entering the building carrying a suspected shotgun around 8:25 a.m., Chief Robert Osborn Jr. told Daily Voice. The tenant and weapon were found in a suite at 183 High St. and determined not to be a threat to the public, Osborn said. Brown was released from parole supervision on Nov. 4, under Gov. Murphy’s COVID-19 law that reduced and ended parole time, police said. Sky McDonough, 28, of Milford, PA is currently serving a maximum of 42.5 years in a medium-security prison for murdering Leanna Walker, 17, burning the body and burying the remains on a llama farm, the report says. McDonough is accused of burglarizing two homes in Wantage on Feb. 23, 2016, before fleeing on foot on Route 650, the Herald reports.  He was eventually arrested in Milford on April 25, 2017.
