A convicted robber from Rockland who was armed with a loaded gun crashed his car on a Bergen County resident's lawn, left it there and was waiting for his mother to pick him up when a local police officer captured him, authorities said. Hakeem Gentles, 26, of Spring Valley was intoxicated when his car struck another in a Montvale driveway over the weekend, according to a police report. UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters cut a driver from a vehicle after it was struck by a commuter train Wednesday morning, the second time in nine days that's happened in the city. Two Hasbrouck Heights men were injured Sunday afternoon when their ATV was struck by an NJ Transit train in East Rutherford, authorities said. Hackensack firefighters cut a driver from her sedan after it was struck by a commuter train Monday morning. The woman was conscious and alert after the NJ Transit Pascack Valley Line train headed from Spring Valley to Hoboken struck and pushed the Hyundai Sonata at Essex Street off East Railroad Avenue at 8:20 a.m., NJ Transit reported. A 71-year-old Rockland man trying to help a Mahwah homeowner remove a tree branch from his roof following Tuesday’s storm lost his balance and fell nearly 20 feet off a ladder, authorities said. UPDATE: A driver was killed Tuesday afternoon when a commuter train struck his SUV in River Edge near the Hackensack border. Sheng Chen, 53, initially was unresponsive, with a weak pulse, after a Pascack Valley Line train struck the Toyota Sequoia on Main Street, east of New Bridge Landing, around 4:40 p.m., authorities said. A woman was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening after she was struck by a passenger train Saturday afternoon in Hackensack, authorities said. The woman was clipped by Pascack Valley Line Train #2111 near the Passaic Street crossing around 12:45 p.m., NJ Transit’s Kate Thompson said.
