'Historic Low': NJ Reservoir Drops Below Half Capacity As Wildfires Burn Across State The Manasquan Reservoir, a crucial water source in Monmouth County, has dropped to historically low levels as New Jersey experiences wildfires and drastic drought conditions. The reservoir's water elevation was recorded at 91.27 feet above sea level on the morning of Monday, Nov. 18, according to Marc Brooks, executive director of the New Jersey Water Supply Authority (NJWSA). That measurement at the Howell Township reservoir was 11.73 feet below its full pool level. The woman, 85, was crossing Allaire Road in Spring Lake Heights when she was struck by the 2023 Nissan Rogue attempting a left-hand turn from the southbound side of Old Mille Road onto eastbound Allaire around 1:20 p.m., Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. North Jersey Man Drowns At Jersey Shore Beach: Police An Essex County man drowned in the ocean at a beach along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Spring Lake police responded to the beachfront near St. Clair Avenue for a swimmer in distress at around 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, the department said in a news release. The first officers at the scene found a man floating face down in the surf and he was pulled out of the water for life-saving measures. Power Outage Hits 27K Customers In Monmouth County About 27,000 electric customers were without power Monday morning in southern Monmouth County. The exact cause of the widespread outage was not immediately known. More than half of the homes and businesses had their power restored by noon, according to an outage tracker map provided by Jersey Central Power & Light. Almost all of Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake and Spring Lake Heights had no power as of 11 a.m. About 40% of Wall Township and 25% of Shrewsbury also were suffering outages. A Monmouth County grand jury this week returned indictments against two defendants charged with crimes involving distribution and/or possession of child sexual abuse materials, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said.
