A 26-year-old Somerset County man who led two separate police pursuits in stolen cars — both of which he crashed — has been arrested on theft and drug charges, authorities announced. Nicholas G. Aiello first started trouble on Feb. 24, when police responding to reports of a stolen vehicle spotted it speeding eastbound on Route 28 around 9:20 p.m. in Branchburg, Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Thomas Chirichella said. Middlesex County Motorcyclist Killed After Striking Tree In Bridgewater, Police Say
A Middlesex County motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a tree in Bridgewater before dawn Monday, police said. Brian McAndrews, of Piscataway, was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson Iron 1200 west on Garretson Road in Bridgewater when he veered off the right side and struck a tree near the intersection of Route 28, officer John Kennedy said in a release. McAndrews was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported just before 9:25 a.m. but believed to have occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., Kennedy said. A 28-year-old Plainfield man was on his way to work at UPS when he was struck and killed by a tractor trailer that fled the scene around 2 a.n. in Bridgewater, authorities announced. Robert C. Cepeda had gotten off an NJ Transit commuter bus on the westbound side of Route 28 with two co-workers when he was struck near Chimney Rock Road while walking across an intersection toward a nearby convenience store, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. A volunteer firefighter was injured battling a two-alarm blaze that extensively damaged an automotive shop and six vehicles in Central Jersey, authorities said. Middlesex Borough Police Department received a 9-1-1 call at 1:57 p.m. on Tuesday reporting a structure fire at Stoms ABS Automotive, 770 Bound Brook Road (Route 28), police said.
