An East Orange ex-convict who fired a gun inside a party he'd been kicked out of killing an innocent victim has been sentenced to time in prison. Jashon Allen, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter for killing Daimeir Nelson at the Lincoln Street bash on Oct. 27, 2020, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said. Allen had gotten the boot from the bash when he fired a gun in the doorway of the home, striking Nelson in the chest after the door had been reopened, according to Assistant Prosecutor Austin Edwards, who handled the case. NJ Transit Driver Could Be Deported For Death Of Passenger Returning Pocketbook: Authorities
An NJ Transit bus driver from Bloomfield was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for dragging a passenger returning a woman's pocketbook in Newark, authorities announced. Superior Court Judge Ronald D. Wigler sentenced 36-year-old Fayola Howard to five years in State Prison for the death of 55-year-old Kevin Thomas, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. NJ Man Convicted Of Killing 2 Siblings, College Student Over Facebook Post
An Essex County man has been convicted of killing a female college student and two juvenile siblings, and trying to kill three other victims who were ultimately saved by responders in 2016, authorities said. The attack was apparently prompted by a comment on Facebook. Jeremy Arrington, 31, broke into the Whitehurst family home on Hedden Terrace in Newark with a loaded gun in November 2016, and tied up everyone who was inside of the home, authorities said citing arguments from 25 witnesses.
