Four-Alarm Tire Warehouse Blaze Displaces 15 South Jersey Families, Injures 2 Firefighters
At least 15 families were displaced and two firefighters injured by an overnight fire that destroyed a tire warehouse in Atlantic County, authorities said. The four-alarm fire broke out shortly before midnight in Pleasantville with reports of explosions and quickly spread to adjoining homes and apartments early Tuesday. The Pleasant Avenue warehouse's second floor collapsed and two firefighters suffered minor injuries. Police ID Atlantic County Driver, 44, Killed When Car Hits Tree
Authorities have identified an Atlantic County driver who was killed early Sunday when his car struck a tree. Glen Mclean, 44, of Pleasantville, was traveling north about 2:30 a.m. on South Shore Road in Absecon when his car careened off the road and went airborne before hitting the tree, Absecon police said. Mclean was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Speeding likely contributed to the crash, according to police. There were no passengers in his car. An investigation is continuing. Violent fugitives wanted for murders, kidnapping and rape were among 14 targets arrested during a quick-strike State Police-led sweep in Ocean and Atlantic counties, authorities said. South Jersey Man Gets 45 Years In State Prison For Fatal Headshot
A convicted cocaine dealer from South Jersey has been sentenced to 45 years in state prison for shooting a 30-year-old man to death, authorities said. Troy Demby, 37, of Egg Harbor Township must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner. Demby was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge Donna Taylor. A man from Pleasantville was found lying dead in the roadway early Wednesday, authorities said. The 54-year-old man, identified as Rickie Jackson, was found at 1:03 a.m. on the outer westbound lane of Black Horse Pick (Route 322) at Chestnut Street, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. A Pleasantville motorcyclist was killed when he struck an SUV left disabled on Route 30 over the weekend, authorities said. A driver was pulled over in their Volkswagon Jetta when a Kia Sportage left the roadway and hit it just before 2 a.m., Sunday, Atlantic City police said. The SUV had come to rest in the right lane when a motorcycle operated by Brian Lewis, 49, and hit its side near milepost 55.2, police said.
