Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sussex County, Police Say
A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said. An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said. The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

An Asbury Park photographer was critically injured when she was stabbed while walking with a friend on Labor Day, according to a fundraising campaign. A GoFundMe page said Andrea Laign was the victim of the afternoon Asbury Avenue stabbing on Monday, Sept. 2. The fundraiser called her a "beloved member of our creative family" in the city. The GoFundMe had raised more than $4,200 from at least 59 donations as of Thursday, Sept. 5. Bicyclist Hit By Vehicle, Killed In Central Jersey: Prosecutors
A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle and killed in a crash in Holmdel, authorities said. Holmdel police responded to the wreck on Bethany Road on Monday, Aug. 12, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The crash happened near the intersection with Galway Drive just before 8 a.m. The 65-year-old Holmdel man was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The vehicle's driver remained at the scene and no charges or summonses have been filed as of Tuesday, Aug. 13. The crash investigation closed Bethany between Hillcrest and Line roads. A man masturbated in front of another customer at Target on Thursday, Aug. 1 in Bridgewater, authorities said. The suspect arrived and exited the parking lot of the Target in the Bridgewater Promenade at 200 Promenade Blvd. in a gray Hyundai Elantra, Bridgewater police said. Possible Drowning Probed At North Jersey Lake, Police Say
Police were investigating a possible drowning at a North Jersey lake over the weekend. A man in his 70s was seen entering Lake Hopatcong but never came out on Saturday, June 22, a spokesperson for the Roxbury Police Department said. The call came in just after 7:30 p.m., bringing the Roxbury Fire Department, New Jersey State Police, and the Morris County Sheriff's Office to the scene. As of Sunday, June 23 at 10 p.m., the investigation remained active, the spokesperson said.

A 57-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound in his Colonia home on Monday after an hours-long standoff with police, authorities said. The man's identity has not been released by authorities, pending notification of his family. About 7:30 a.m., police from the Woodbridge and Rahway police departments responded to a home on Dukes Road. Fleeing Driver Crashes Vehicle Into Howell Police Car, Caught After Foot Chase
Howell police captured a man who crashed his vehicle into one of their cars and then tried to flee on foot, authorities said. What began as a motor vehicle stop became a pursuit and a crash around 8 p.m. Monday, police said in a Facebook post. They caught him after a brief foot chase, they said. Southbound Route 9 was partially closed near Lanes Mills Road during the investigation.

A 59-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition Monday after falling through an elevator shaft in a Butler building while helping a person who had their hands stuck in the doors, authorities said. The man fell through a shaft at 10 Park Place after trying to open the elevator door for a person who had their hand stuck around 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Butler police Lt. Michael Moeller said.
