The pilot was taking off and heading to pick up a private charter when the a 2015 Bell Model 407 began spinning around 100 to 150 feet in the air around noon, Fairfield police said. Then, it hit the ground on the north side of the airport near Runway #28. Details Released In Easter Sunday Plane Crash At Essex County Airport A pilot and his two passengers escaped uninjured when the plane they were flying in ran off a runway and crashed at the Essex County Airport on Easter Sunday, authorities said. The 2020 Citation CJ3 Plus was found at the end of Runway 22 in a drainage brook around 2:40 p.m., Fairfield police said. As police and EMS were arriving, the pilot and two passengers were climbing out, police said. They were identified as a 45-year-old man from Danbury, CT, a 57-year-old man from Poughkeepsie, NY and a 66-year-old man from Bernardsville, the plane's owner.
