Driver Crashes Car On NJ Boardwalk: Firefighters A driver lost control of his car, crashing onto a boardwalk in Ocean County on the early morning of Sunday, Feb. 16, authorities said. At 1:18 a.m., first responders in Island Heights were dispatched to a crash on River Avenue and found a vehicle that had lost control and driven up onto the boardwalk, Island Heights Volunteer Fire Co. 1 said. The crash caused extensive damage to a portion of the boardwalk before crashing into and knocking over a street light, firefighters said.. Firefighters Quickly Douse Blaze On Jersey Shore A family safely escaped a house fire in Howell, but a firefighter was injured, authorities said. The fire broke out at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at 948 Route 33, Howell police said. A 9-1-1 call was placed by an Eatontown firefighter who observed smoke coming from the residence. Upon arrival of the responding patrol officers, all occupants of the home were already safely evacuated, police said. Rides Evacuated After Power Lost At Six Flags Great Adventure A brief power outage prompted the evacuation of rides at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township on Monday, authorities said. The loss of electricity left some park-goers stuck on rides for up to 25 minutes, but no one was hurt, said Kristen Fitzgerald, a park spokeswoman.
