Two Jersey Shore School Districts Could Merge After OK From State Officials New Jersey's top education officials have signed-off on a referendum for a merger between two school districts. On Friday, March 8, Acting New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer approved Seaside Heights merging with the Toms River Regional school district. The Central Regional School District had petitioned against the merger, but Dehmer said that Seaside Heights is closer in proximity to Toms River, so transportation will be cheaper and more time-efficient. Multiple Police Agencies Respond To Large Fight In Toms River Multiple police units were dispatched to the Days Hotel on Route 37 in Toms River for a large fight in a parking lot, authorities said. While responding on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 12:45 a.m., officers received further information regarding possible gunshots. Further investigation revealed evidence that shots were fired but no victims were struck.  One male suffered a seizure during the incident and was transported to Community Medical Center by Silverton First Aid.  The investigation is ongoing at this time. Feds: Jersey Shore Man Busted With Child Porn Collection Federal Homeland Security agents on Wednesday arrested a Jersey Shore man who they said collected child pornography. Agents began investigating Joseph J. Punderson, 31, of Island Heights after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. His wife reported Matt Conway, 67, missing around 4 p.m. Tuesday, they said. The U.S. Coast Guard released security camera photos of Conway shortly before he left a dock on the Toms River in a silver rowboat that morning.
