Officials ID Woman, 36, Killed By Hoboken-Bound NJ Transit Train In Bergen County
NJ Transit officials have identified the 36-year-old woman struck and killed by a train in River Edge over the weekend. Kim N. Almonte, of River Edge, was struck near the New Bridge Landing station by Pascack Valley Line train 2118 around 4:45 p.m., NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba tells Daily Voice. The train had left Spring Valley, NY at 4:05 p.m.and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 5:20 p.m., Mulumba said. No injuries were reported to the 120 customers or the crew on board. An Amtrak signal issue at New York Penn Station has suspended NJ Transit service on Friday, Jan. 12, officials said. Officials ID Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In North Jersey
NJ Transit officials have identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a train this week. Naji Jacob, a 74-year-old New Providence resident, was struck and killed by a train near Murray Hill Station in New Providence early Wednesday morning, Dec. 27. At 5:05 a.m., a Gladstone Branch train en route to Hoboken, fatally struck Jacob, NJ Transit officials said. There were no injuries to the people on board the train, NJ Transit said.

A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Somerset County on Monday afternoon, Dec. 18, authorities said. The man was fatally struck by the Gladstone Branch train 421 just west of the Basking Ridge station shortly before 2:55 p.m., an NJ Transit spokesperson told Daily Voice. Two people were arrested and another 34 people were issued summonses at the annual SantaCon in Hoboken on Saturday, Dec. 16, authorities said.
