NJ Transit officials have released the name of the motorist killed by a train earlier this week in Morris County. Michael Carbone, 77, of Pompton Plains, was struck by Montclair-Boonton Line train 1074 after he disregarded the crossing gates at the Ryerson Road crossing in Lincoln Park around 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, a spokesperson for NJ Transit said. A driver was killed after being struck by an NJ Transit train Monday morning, Oct. 28 in Morris County, authorities said. Nearly 2,600 people employed by a North Jersey hospital chain are expected to be laid off by the end of the year, according to a newly-filed WARN notice. This month, Carepoint Health filed notices with New Jersey's labor department indicating layoffs would begin on Dec. 12 at healthcare centers in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken. Man Purposely Hit Goose With E-Bike, Hoboken Police Say
A 30-year-old Hoboken man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Sept. 11 after he intentionally hit a goose with an e-bike, authorities said. At 5:35 p.m., officers responded to Pier A park on reports that a person hit a goose on purpose with a bike, Hoboken police said. Police found Andrew Mullin, who fit the description of the individual, and arrested him, officers said. Mullin was charged with cruelty to animals and issued summons for riding an e-bike on a walkway, police said. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.

Walmart Cutting Hundreds Of Positions From North Jersey Office
Layoffs are ahead for more than 200 of Walmart's North Jersey employees. A New Jersey WARN notice says the company will begin the cuts to 237 positions at its corporate office in Hoboken on Aug. 14, with more to come on Nov. 1, and Jan. 31, 2025. According to the Wall Street Journal, employees may work remotely but are being asked to spend the majority of their times in the offices. NJ Transit officials have identified the 36-year-old woman struck and killed by a train in River Edge over the weekend. Kim N.
