Worker Electrocuted, Killed By Live Wire In Mercer County: Police
A worker was electrocuted and killed while working on fiber optic lines, authorities said. Dean Kitchin, 52, of Cherry Hill apparently touched a live power line during the work, they said. His lifeless body was found on top of a box truck, according to Hamilton police. Hamilton police and firefighters were called to 11 Souith Gold Road for a report of a fire on Wednesday, March 1. There was no foul play, Hamilton police said. The Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office was conducting an autopsy.

NJ Police Lt. Mark Horan Takes His Own Life After 24 Years On Force
A police lieutenant who took his own life over the weekend in his New Jersey home is being remembered as a devoted dad and exemplary officer. Hamilton Police Lt. Mark Horan died Saturday, April 30 in his home. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, NJ Advance Media reports. Horan joined Hamilton's force in 1998 and assigned to the patrol division. He moved to the anti-crime unit in 2009, and a year later, was promoted to sergeant. In 2017, he was promoted again to lieutenant, serving in the anti-crime, patrol and administration divisions. A Somerset County woman who set fire to a business sign in Mercer County was charged with arson, authorities said. Alicia Schmitter, 40, is accused of using a lighter to set fire to an advertisement flag in front of Angie’s Multiservices on the 1800 block of South Broad Street in Hamilton just before 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, local police said. Schmitter, of Franklin Park, was seen on surveillance footage walking out of sight before officers found her lying on the sidewalk nearby, police said. A 19-year-old Trenton man broke into an elderly woman’s home Monday and held her at gunpoint before making off with several of her possessions, including her car, authorities said. Kahider Carmichael is accused of breaking into a Hamilton home on the 300 block of Tindall Avenue by pushing in a window air conditioning unit on the first floor, police said. A boy was shot in Hamilton over the weekend, and the gunman remains at large, police said. A 31-year-old fugitive from Middlesex County has been arrested in connection with fatally shooting a man from Mercer County in the head during a robbery, authorities said. George A. Briscoe of Edison was arrested Wednesday in Edison by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force and police from Hamilton and Edison, authorities said. Authorities in Mercer County seek the public's help in identifying additional victims in recent sex attacks. On Nov. 24, Hamilton Township charged Jonathan Bascio, 30, of Hamilton with multiple counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. Police are looking for a Hamilton girl who is missing for the second time this week. Kahiee Howard, 13, was last seen 6:30 a.m. Thursday at her home on the 900 block of William Street by her mother, local police said. She had previously gone missing Monday, but was found safe on Tuesday. Kahiee is 5 feet and 4 inches tall, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. A 26-year-old man from Central Jersey accused of sexually assaulting two drunk women during parties at his house is facing new allegations from four more women, authorities said Wednesday. Eridson M. A pair of drivers and their passengers were hospitalized in a Hamilton crash early Saturday morning, authorities said. Kavin A. Barreto, 22, of Trenton, was heading east on Cedar Lane in a 2016 BMW when he struck a 2010 Honda Accord driven by Byron Encalada-Andrae, 24, of Maryland, who was making a U-turn onto Woolsey Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, local police said. A pair of thieves from Trenton stockpiled more than $380,000 worth of stolen landscaping equipment during the past year before selling top-of-the-line mowers on Facebook, authorities said.
