: Tree Downs Wires, Burns Route 17 Pavement
UPDATE: Southbound Route 17 remained closed temporarily after a transformer fire downed wires and burned a portion of the roadway Wednesday night in Waldwick. Police initially closed the highway north at Allendale Road and south at Cameron Road around 9:15 p.m. Several area power outages were reported. Police, firefighters and the state Department of Transportation responded. The northbound side was reopened shortly before 10:30 p.m., but the southbound side remained closed while things cooled off and a hole could be patched. Grove Street in Waldwick.DAILY VOICE

Fatal Crash: Motorcyclist Ejected Off Route 3 Bridge Into Hackensack River
A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Paterson was killed late Tuesday when he was ejected off a Route 3 bridge into the Hackensack River in Secaucus, responders said. Firefighters from Secaucus and East Rutherford recovered the body of the as-yet unidentified victim near the Clarion Empire Meadowlands Hotel south of the bridge about a half-hour after the 11 p.m. crash, they said. They also found his helmet. An ALS unit made the pronouncement. The highway was reopened around 4 a.m.

Clothes Dryer Fire Spreads In Manchester Mobile Home Park
Manchester area firefighters, police and EMS crews were called to Pine Acres Manor mobile home park late Friday morning, authorities said. The original emergency call at about 11 a.m. was for a clothes dryer on fire at 1881 Route 37 West, according to an alert by Manchester police. The fire quickly spread to a structure and vehicle, according to initial, unconfirmed reports. The fire was reported "knocked down" within about 30 minutes. This is a developing news story. Fire Blows Through Roof Of Moonachie Home
Flames blew through the roof of a Moonachie home early Monday evening. The call for what began as a two-alarm blaze on Joseph Street was called in at 4:50 p.m. No injuries were immediately reported. Assisting their Moonachie colleagues at the scene or in coverage were firefighters from Carlstadt, Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, South Hackensack and Wood-Ridge.

: Monmouth Beach Firefighters Battle House Blaze
A partial collapse was reported as firefighters worked to knock down a blaze at two Monmouth Beach houses late Tuesday morning. Emergency crews were called to 18 Valentine St. at Riverdale Avenue about 11:30 a.m. Several roads were closed in the area, and Monmouth Beach police advised people to stay away. Fire Doused At Hackensack Company That Makes Hand Sanitizer Stands
Hackensack firefighters made quick work of a Wednesday morning blaze at a company that makes metal stands for hand sanitizers used in medical facilities, among other products. The call to the Testrite plant on South Newman Street came in at 8:17 a.m. after the fire broke out in a malfunctioning dust-collecting machine, city firefighters said. The sprinkler system knocked down the main body of the blaze, they said. Firefighters evacuated the building, then vented it after dousing the flames. EMS evaluated a worker at the scene. Testrite has been in business a little over 100 years.

Driver Hospitalized After Sedan Slams Into Utility Pole In Hackensack
A driver was hospitalized after a sedan bounced off a parked car and slammed into a utility pole Friday afternoon in Hackensack. The southbound Audi cracked the pole in front of Tips N More on Main Street shortly after 2 p.m. The driver had to be placed in a neck brace before being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. City police and firefighters and Hackensack Meridian Health EMS responded.

Firefighters rescued a 4-year-old girl and her mother from a burning Passaic building Monday afternoon. A bystander spotted both of them at a third-floor window above a restaurant at the corner of Dayton Avenue and President Street after arriving shortly before 2:30 p.m., Mayor Hector Carlos Lora told Daily Voice. Driver Seriously Injured In Fair Lawn Crash
A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries after a Saturday afternoon crash in Fair Lawn. The driver of a sedan was extricated before being transported after an SUV slammed into the car at the intersection of Broadway and Plaza Road around 1 p.m. The other driver refused medical attention.
