A SWAT team seized a violent Teaneck ex-con with a 25-year criminal history for orchestrating the fatal shooting of a Newark man at a house party in Englewood last month. Responders from Piermont rescued a stranded Fourth of July hiker from the Palisades above the Hudson River, authorities said. A Bergenfield man stole three different vehicles from the same neighborhood – all of which had been left running with the keys inside – to get him to and from Paterson, said police who arrested him. Schools in all 75 Bergen County districts will shut down indefinitely at the close of Friday's school day in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus, County Executive Jim Tedesco said Thursday night. An overnight crash in Englewood on Sunday pulled down three utility poles, one of which struck another vehicle behind the first one, authorities said.
