SUV Plows Into Entrance Of Old Tappan Mixed-Use Building
A small SUV plowed into an Old Tappan mixed-use building on Friday. The older-model Hyundai continued through a handicapped parking space, mounted a small curb and hit the façade of the Old Tappan Road building between two columns at the entrance. There was no immediate word on the condition of the driver, who responders said was hospitalized. The building didn’t appear structurally compromised. Car Sideswipes Paterson School Bus, Three Kids Hospitalized
Three Paterson children were hospitalized as a precaution after their school bus was sideswiped Tuesday morning, authorities said. The bus was parked at the corner of Trenton and Florida avenues when a Nissan Altima with a 30-year-old female driver came down the street shortly before 8:30 a.m., Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. "She was coming by alongside the bus as another car came in the other direction," Speziale said. "She swerved to avoid the other car and sideswiped the bus." Firefighters Battle Roaring Glen Rock House Blaze
Firefighters battled a stubborn Glen Rock house blaze Monday night. Flames blew through the roof of the 70-year-old, two-story Boulevard home, collapsing it. The fire went to three alarms shortly before 7:30 p.m., about an hour after it began. No serious injuries were immediately reported. NORCON was activated. Emergency Crews Respond To Bus Accident In Howell
Emergency crews were responding to an accident involving a car and a school bus about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, police said. The accident occurred on Route 33 near Tinton Falls Road in Howell, police said. Eleven bus passengers were being checked for injuries at the scene, according to early, unconfirmed reports. UPDATE: Firefighters rescued a woman while others fled from danger during an intense blaze that consumed a large Clifton multi-family building, killing a dog and a cat and driving 21 people from their homes. A suicidal woman who survived an overnight leap from a bridge between Clifton and Garfield with serious injuries was rescued after an officer who was searching for her heard her screams, authorities said Wednesday. The third fire in a little over three years at a Paramus garden center severely damaged a greenhouse Wednesday night. Flames erupted at Denny Wiggers Landscapes and Garden Center on Paramus Road across from Bergen Community College shortly before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, with no injuries reported. Wyckoff firefighters quickly doused a damaging, pre-dawn blaze Wednesday at a retreat for children with developmental disabilities. Police in Franklin are preparing to honor a little girl who kept her cool when her mother suffered a medical episode earlier this month. Emergency dispatchers Julie Kozo and Olivia Klein received a 911 call shortly before 8 a.m Dec. 6 from Isla Glaser. The four-year-old told the dispatchers that her mother had fallen and needed help. A sedan collided with a Jeep on a busy Englewood street, sending both drivers to the hospital and jamming the area's early Thursday commute.
