The chase was reported along the New Jersey Turnpike near mile marker 77.7 in East Brunswick about 4:30 p.m., according to initial, unconfirmed reports. Troopers were reportedly searching for the suspect on foot and with the use of a K-9 unit. An aviation unit joined the search once thunderstorms passed about 5:15 p.m. It was unclear why the suspect was being pursued, or what initiated the chase. This is a developing news story.
