A man who threw bottles of red wine at liquor store employees causing $3,000 in damage is being sought by police in Linden. The man apparently didn't have enough money to pay for his alcohol at Beno's Liquor on North Wood Avenue on Nov. 30, and became upset when the store employee refused to give him a discount, Linden police said. The irate customer threatened to kill the employees and threw several large bottles of wine at the them before grabbing a clear plastic container of small liquor bottles and fleeing, police said. A Bergen County man convicted of sexually assaulting women in two different states has completed his prison term in New York and can now be sentenced in New Jersey. Blake Tannen, 32, was arrested after Allendale police traced an abandoned 911 cellphone call to his home on Baldwin Road in November 2015. Damion “Checks” Helmes, 42, of Cliffwood was the last of 20 defendants convicted of peddling the drug throughout Monmouth County and into Ocean County. Police Investigating Sussex County Smoke Shop Burglary
Police are seeking clues on an overnight burglary of a Sussex County smoke shop. The break-in occurred at TC Smoke Shop at 21 Rt. 206 in Stanhope around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, Byram Township police said. No further details about the burglary were released.
