Anthony Somma of Toms River died on Sept. 15 at Cooper University Medical Center after a five-year battle against Ewing Sarcoma, his obituary says. He was 27 years old. A New Year's Eve baby, Anthony was born to entertain, his obit reads. He had a passion for musical theater and "lit up every room he entered." Anthony graduated from Toms River High School East (2014) and pursued a degree in radio, film and broadcasting at Rowan University. A Philadelphia man who was driving at a high rate of speed on the Tacony-Palmyra bridge has been sentenced to six years in New Jersey state prison for his role in causing a five-car collision that killed one of the drivers, authorities said. A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed while in a car getting gas at a South Jersey service station Saturday, authorities said. Willingboro police were called to the Phillips 66 on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive around 3 p.m. on reports of a shooting, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Willingboro Township Public Safety Director Kinamo Lomon said. A medivac helicopter airlifted a Willingboro gunshot victim to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden at about 1:40 a.m., according to initial reports.
