A 39-year-old Newark man faces up to life in prison after he was convicted on Monday, Feb. 24, of vehicular homicide when he drove drunk and killed two people in a crash, authorities said.
And this isn't his first fatality behind the wheel.

Seven people were arrested and nine illegal firearms were seized in four days in an ongoing gun operation in Newark, authorities said.
The nine illegal handguns, recovered since Friday, April 29, bring the city's total gun recoveries in 2022 to 251 — a 54 percent increase over the same period a year ago, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said.

Three gunman were arrested in a series of separate incidents across Newark in just one day, authorities announced.

Police: Newark Trio With Heroin, Cocaine, Assault Rifle Charged With Intent To Distribute
Three Newark men are facing a slew of charges after they were found with cocaine, heron and an assault rifle, authorities said.
Quadir Whitehead, 27, Damon Dunston, 19, and Najee Gregory, 22, were arrested near Harding Terrace and Bergen Street Saturday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
All were charged with intent to distribute, along with heroin and cocaine distribution within 1,000 feet of a school.
Whitehead and Gregory were also arrested on charges relating to burglary, conspiracy and weapons-related offenses.
