UPDATE: An unemployed Franklin Lakes man stabbed, bludgeoned and drowned his 87-year-old father in their home, then went to the police station to confess to the murder, according to a report outlining the horrific assault.
David Allen Hagal, 60, was charged with murder and illegal weapons possession in the brutal murder of his 87-year-old father.
Borough police rushed to the home, found the body of George J. Hagal and took David Allen Hagal, 60, into custody shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10.

An unemployed Nutley man bought 10 vintage cars with the money he made selling cocaine, authorities charged.
Authorities seized the “exotic” vehicles along with nearly $332,000 in cash that Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Omar Rios, 44, squirreled away in his apartment and a stash house.
They also grabbed 1.7 pounds of cocaine, cutting agents, packaging material and a hydraulic press used to compress cocaine for packaging, the prosecutor said.

Animal Cruelty: Man Caught On Camera Abusing Friend's Dog At Mall In Paramus
A Rockland County man who was dog-sitting for a friend was caught on video punching, kicking and otherwise abusing the baby pit bull at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities said.
Joseph Caraccia, 39, of West Haverstraw, was caught thanks to a good Samaritan who called police to the parking lot of the mall on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Paramus Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said.
The caller "observed the abuser punching, kicking, and throwing the dog into a vehicle," the chief said.
It was later discovered that the dog -- named Stormy -- is only eight months old, Guidetti said.

An 11-year-old New Jersey girl was returned home safely after she was kidnapped in Wayne and taken to Delaware, authorities said.
Darius Matylewich, 27, of Bear, DE. was captured on Sept. 10 after he took the girl earlier in the day from an undisclosed location near the confluence of Routes 46, 80 and 23 without her parents’ knowledge, they said.
