NJ Fisherman Describes Reeling In 5.5-Foot White Shark By Himself (

Travis Bogin was looking for a thresher shark. What he got was a white shark. The 39-year-old Little Egg Harbor fisherman was on the water 12 miles of of Atlantic City Wednesday, June 12, when he felt a shark hit his line around 11:30 a.m., he said. He didn't know what type of fish it was until it was five or six feet away from the boat, Bogin said. The shark rolled on its belly and Bogin realized: "Holy cow, that's a white shark. Shooter In Murder-Suicide Was Retired Atlantic City Police Officer
The man who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before killing himself was a retired Atlantic City police officer, authorities confirmed. William Beattie, 47, retired from the police force on Feb. 1, 2010, according to public records. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. They found the bodies of the resident, Erin Gatier, 47, and Beattie, of Landisville, inside, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. A Twitter account that tracks private jets of Russian oligarchs says that a jet belonging to of the world's richest men flew out of Teterboro Airport Thursday, March 24. Ukrainian-born Leonard Blavatnik's jet N600EB left the airport around 9:25 a.m., Russian Oligarch Jets said citing flight-tracking service ADSB Exchange. A 51-year-old contractor from South Jersey has been arrested for taking nearly $75,000 for a construction project then blowing it in Atlantic City, a new boat and a new car, authorities said. An investigation into Richard A. Smith Jr., of Williamstown, began in December 2021, after a Riverton resident told police that Smith, who owns Beyond Renovations LLC, took two payments for wok on an addition, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Riverton Police Chief John Shaw said. Six boaters were rescued by members of the US Coast Guard and a good Samaritan approximately 34 miles east of Atlantic City Thursday. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay Command Center in Philadelphia received an alert that a 28-foot pleasure craft with six people aboard was taking on water due to the inclement weather and the heavy seas in the area. A disgraced South Jersey attorney with a confessed gambling habit was busted by federal agents for conning an investor out of $2.4 million in a loan scheme involving supposed Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holders, authorities said. A convict who escaped from a South Jersey halfway house after serving 10 years of a 12½-year federal prison sentence for robbing an Atlantic City bank was sent back to the slammer on Thursday. Gary Mitchell, 60, forfeited 14 months of "good time" credit, which he must now serve, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.
