Charges Upgraded For Driver 2X Legal Limit After Death Of Jersey Shore Restaurateur: Prosecutor
A Seaside Park woman's charges were upgraded when a restaurant owner and well-known fly fisherman died more than a month after a hit-and-run crash. Genell Mcinaw, 50, surrendered to Seaside Heights police on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Ocean County First Assistant Prosecutor Michael Nolan Jr. said in a news release. A 41-year-old man from the Jersey Shore has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal high-speed crash in May, authorities said. John Zinkoski, 41, of Beachwood, surrendered himself to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Aug. 22, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. An off-duty New Jersey State Trooper was twice over the legal limit when he struck a Hoboken police car in an early-morning crash over the weekend, authorities said. Prosecutor: Ocean County Man, 56, Admits Fatal Alcohol-Involved Crash
A 56-year-old man from the Jersey Shore has admitted to fatally rear-ending another motorist from Toms River in an alcohol-related crash, authorities said. Douglas Thompson of Jackson, pleaded guilty to death by auto on Thursday, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Thompson entered his plea before Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan. When he is sentenced on Jan. 11, 2021, the state is recommending a state prison term of five years, Billhimer said. The family of one of three people killed in a wrong-way drunk-driving crash on Route 80 last October is demanding justice. Miguel Botero of Dumont was charged Jan. 10 with three counts of reckless vehicular homicide in connection with the Oct. 18, 2019 deaths of passengers Jalen Davis and Julia Wells, 20, as well as another driver whom authorities haven't yet identified.
