The bridges, which DOT said are in poor condition, carry traffic eastbound and westbound over Rt. 202/206 and over Washington Valley Road.
Beginning Monday and continuing weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the right lane ad shoulder westbound near the bridges will be closed for milling and other work. When the work is completed on the westbound side, contractors will then begin on the eastbound side. All told, this phase is expected to take several weeks.
Next, temporary bridges will be constructed between the roadways to maintain all lanes of traffic during construction. The eastbound bridges will be replaced first, followed by the westbound bridges.
Electronic signs will update motorists on traffic conditions affected by the work.
The $27.9 million project is scheduled to be finished in 2022.
