The two-car collision occurred at the intersection of Rt. 22 and Vosseller Avenue in Bridgewater just before 2:10 a.m.

Jose Cruz Villanueva Izaguirre, 24, of Plainfield, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Honda Civic and collided with a Kia Sedona driven by Elhabib Alhoudh, a 56-year-old North Brunswick man, according to Bridgewater Police officers who found both vehicles disabled and heavily damaged in the intersection.

Izaguirre, as well as his passengers — two adults and a teen — were seriously injured in the crash. One passenger was found unresponsive in the back seat, suffering from “severe head trauma,” police said. All four were rushed to RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.

The Kia driver, as well as the two adults in the back seat, were also taken to RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick, one of them with a “serious internal injury,” according to police.

Investigators believe the Honda Civic was heading east on Rt. 22 and struck the Kia in the intersection while the Kia was making a left turn onto Rt. 22 from the north side of Vosseller Avenue.

The crash remained under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Kevin Florczak of the Bridgewater Police Traffic Safety Bureau at (908)722-4111 ext. 4130 or the Bridgewater TIPS line at 877-660-INFO (4636).
