Middlesex County Men Indicted In Alleged $7M Fuel Investment Scheme: AG
A New Jersey grand jury has indicted two Middlesex County men for allegedly defrauding fuel investors out of approximately $6.7 million, authorities said.
The scheme used sham companies and false identities to deceive investors into believing they would receive large guaranteed returns from investments in fuel products, according to Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.
Instead, the defendants diverted investor funds for their own benefit, Platkin said.

Woman, 34, Killed Walking Along Garden State Parkway
A 34-year-old woman from Pennsylvania walking along the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County, NJ, was struck and killed by a pickup truck, authorities said.
Liliya Rosenblum was struck by the Chevrolet pickup at about 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the southbound left lane near milepost 130.2 in Woodbridge, New Jersey State Police said.
Rosenblum, of Newville, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
Robber Gets Life For Killing Clerk At Central Jersey Speedway Gas Station: Prosecutor
A South Carolina man who killed a clerk at a gas station in Edison during an armed robbery in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder, authorities said.
Marcus A. Wright, 27, of Beaufort, SC, fatally shot the Speedway worker on Dec. 20, 2018, on Amboy Avenue, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
Wright was convicted of murder in the slaying of John Bertram, 38, of the Fords section of Woodbridge, on Sept. 12, 2023. He also was found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy and weapons offenses.

Gotcha! NJ Duo Charged With Beating Gas Station Attendants In Armed Tri-County Robbery Spree
Two men wanted for beating attendants during a two-day spree of quick-stop armed gas station robberies in three New Jersey counties were captured by federal agents, authorities said.
Ex-con Ahmad Singletary, 24, and Joseph Young, 26, both of Newark, committed three of the robberies last Sept. 5, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
Four more holdups -- also in a single day -- followed exactly a week later, the U.S. attorney said.
Singletary "threatened, assaulted, and struck victims in the head" with a Ruger 9 mm P95 handgun, injuring all of them, a complaint filed by the ATF says.
