Son Of Former Mayor Launches 2nd Bid For Mayor In Perth Amboy The son of a former mayor has launched his second bid for mayor in the City of Perth Amboy. Joseph B. Vas, a lawyer in Perth Amboy, faces Helmin Caba in the June primary election for the Democratic Party.  His father, Joseph, was a former city mayor for 18 years. "I'm a big fan of Perth Amboy but I'm not happy with what's going on in town," Vas told Daily Voice.  "Nothing's being done" about violent crime, he said.
