As President Joe Biden cruised to victory in New Jersey in the 2020 presidential election, he got some help from two counties that went his way after voting for former President Donald Trump in 2016: Morris and Gloucester. Morris County went to Biden, 51.14% to 46.90%, 153,881 votes to 141,134 votes. It was a remarkable turnaround for a county that hadn't voted Democrat at the presidential level since Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater in 1964. A Gloucester County man was accused of having sexually explicit conversations online with a teen who he asked to meet at a park near his home, authorities said. Jeremy Slickerman, 33, of West Deptford, was arrested at his home on Friday, March 15, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Tuesday, Mar. 19. Police in South Jersey are trying to locate a 9-year-old girl who they say was picked up by her mom in North Jersey and hasn't been returned. Athena Worthy-Miles' mom, Dasia Serrano-Worthy, picked her up from her grandmother's house on 74th Street in North Bergen on Saturday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m., police in West Deptford say. There's been an outpouring of community support for the families devastated by a deadly fire that destroyed their homes in West Deptford Thursday. The fire broke out around 4:15 a.m. Thursday on the 1300 block of Tatum Street in West Deptford and spread to a neighboring home, leaving one woman dead and four others hurt. The search for boaters who went missing when their vessel capsized over the weekend on the Delaware River has turned to a recovery mission, authorities said. 19: Passaic County MVC Center Marks 4th Closed Due To Positive Case Among Workers
Four of New Jersey's Motor Vehicle Commission centers were closed as of Monday after a worker tested positive in Passaic County. The Paterson agency -- a regional/licensing center -- closed on Monday, Nov. 2 after the test returned positive. The news comes the same day that nearly a dozen MVC agencies switched to appointment-only. The Paterson center is expected to reopen Nov. 14. A peeping Tom installed mirrors so he could spy on girls in the bathroom stalls at a South Jersey middle school, authorities charged.
