A new learning center in Bergen County has discovered an innovative method to help give kids a STEM education. Bricks 4 Kidz recently opened a learning center at 530 Piermont Road in Closter. The franchise has 10 locations throughout the Garden State and has learning centers nationwide. A 17-year-old high school student in New Jersey removed himself from a virtual chemistry class after being asked and subsequently refusing to take down a flag displaying his support for President Trump. A pair of Morris County students have tested positive for COVID-19. Kinnelon Superintendent Diane DiGiuseppe warned parents in an Oct. 11 letter that the high school could switch to virtual learning pending more information from contact tracers. Another Essex County school reported COVID-19 cases this week. The three individuals were staff members and students of the Washington Elementary School in West Orange, Superintendent J. Scott Cascone said Thursday, Oct. 8. The school will be closed until Oct. 21, he said. Three students at West Essex Regional High School also tested positive this week. 19: Westfield High School Athletics Suspended Until October
High school athletics in Westfield will have to wait until October, school officials said. Sports teams will be sitting out opening week due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases among students, NJ.com reports. The teams will return to practices Oct. 1 and can play their first games as of Oct. 4, according to Athletic Director Sandra Mamary. Last week, the school announced it would be switching to virtual learning for 14 days after six students tested positive for the virus. 19: Elizabeth School Closes For Day After Staffer Tests Positive
An Elizabeth school closed for a day after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Academy closed Friday for cleaning and will reopen Monday, a district spokesperson told NJ.com. There were no other known cases in the district and it was likely that the staff member contracted the virus outside of work, the spokesperson said.
