Someone Painted Fake Crosswalk In Union Street, Police Say Police in Union are investigating after a crudely painted crosswalk was discovered in the middle of a street Thursday morning.  Officers noticed the crosswalk around 8:25 a.m. on Vauxhall Road near  Brookside Drive. Made with white spray paint, it's located at an especially dangerous place for pedestrians to cross, police said.  "For those who live in the area, this purported crosswalk should not be utilized to cross because the intersection is located on a curve with a grade making it UNSAFE to cross," the department said in a statement. Teens, Including 14-Year-Old, Fled Union Police In Stolen Minivan: Authorities Three teenagers were arrested Monday after they fled a traffic stop in a minivan reported stolen out of Westfield earlier that day, Union police said in a statement.  Patrol officers saw the minivan, a Honda Odyssey, and another vehicle exit the Garden State Parkway service area and make an improper left turn onto Vauxhall Road around 3:15 p.m., police said.  Police pulled both vehicles over, but when officers approached, the driver of the minivan took off east on Vauxhall, authorities said.  Police pursued the minivan, which struck a curb on Vauxhall and became partially di…

Man Gets $1M To Settle Lawsuit Against Union Liquor Store: Report A man who slipped on the ice in front of a Union liquor store and was hit by a vehicle has settled a lawsuit filed against the business for $1 million, the New Jersey Law Journal reported. Ciriano Tene-Garcia fell in front of Aarti’s Liquors Jan. 25, 2015 and ended up in the roadway on Vauxhall Road, where he was struck by a vehicle. An attorney for Tene-Garcia said he suffered serious injuries that have permanently affected his concentration and memory. Wawa, Fairfield Inn May Come To Union: Report A developer has submitted plans to build a complex on Rt. 22 in Union that would include a hotel, restaurant and a self-storage facility, Jersey Digs reported last week.  The complex would be built on the eastbound side of the highway near Vauxhall Road and in an area that's now home to a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant and a motel.  The proposed development would include a Wawa gas station and convenience store as well as the hotel, a Fairfield Inn by Marriott.
