At 11:33 a.m., firefighters responded to 734 Summer Ave. and found the fire on two floors of the building, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said . Firefighters transmitted a second alarm at 11:37 a.m. and a third alarm at 11:49 a.m., requesting additional units respond to the scene, Fragé said. Two Newark Teens Shot Near High School: Authorities Two Newark teenagers were shot near West Side High School on Tuesday, March 26, authorities said. A 17-year-old and a 15-year-old boy were the victims of the shooting, Mayor Ras Baraka and Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The two teenagers were transported to University Hospital in Newark, authorities said.  Gov. Phil Murphy said his office was coordinating with law enforcement. East Orange Man Stabs Victim During Argument On Newark Street: Police A 38-year-old East Orange man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing on Newark, police said. Jesse Lee Simmons was arguing with another man when he stabbed him around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 on the 100 block of Broad Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. At 10:15 p.m., the girl was struck on the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. She was taken to University Hospital, Stephens said. According to ABC7, the girl is a cheerleader who had just returned to Newark Arts High School following a competition.  The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating the crash, Stephens said.
