Man Admits Kidnapping Paterson Business Owner, Driving Across State Lines In U-Haul Truck
A 38-year-old New York man has admitted to his role in the kidnapping of a Paterson business owner in October 2020 in which he drove him across state lines in a U-Haul truck and called his family for ransom money, federal officials said.
Reginald Law, 38, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Evelyn Padin in Newark federal court to an indictment charging him with kidnapping and Hobbs Act robbery, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said this week.

Trio Arrested For Illegal Dumping In Newark, Police Say
Three men were arrested for illegal dumping in Newark, authorities said.
David Chang, 24, of Brooklyn, Mikel A. Lopez, 23, of Englewood, and Steven Gonzalez, 25, of Union City, were spotted tossing debris from a U-Haul around 9 p.m. Sunday, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said.
They were spotted by members of the Newark Police Division’s Environmental Graffiti Vice Crimes Task Force near 49-59 Riverside Avenue, O'Hara said.
The materials being removed from the truck included mattresses, wood and black industrial-size garbage bags, police said.
