Two people are at large after stealing more than $4,000 in merchandise from Lululemon in Closter on Monday, Nov. 11, authorities said. At 3:15 p.m., officers responded to the Lululemon at Closter Plaza on a report of a shoplifting, Closter police said. A New Jersey town's police chief was accused of improperly using law enforcement databases and helping someone shoplift, authorities said. Chief Peter Cooke Jr., 58, the chief in Englishtown, was charged with third-degree computer theft and third-degree conspiracy to commit shoplifting, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 12. To fight the recent rise in shoplifting and retail theft, shoppers could see store security employees wearing body-worn cameras to help catch thieves red-handed. Britney Lockett was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 11 and charged with shoplifting Kohl's in Secaucus three different times over the summer, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said.
