Two teenagers were arrested after they discarded a loaded firearm in the bushes near Union High School, prompting a lockdown, on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 21, authorities said. At 8:11 a.m., officers responded to a resident near Union High School who reported finding a fanny pack in the bushes near Stahuber Drive, Township of Union police said. Two juveniles were arrested and charged after trespassing at Bloomfield High School on Wednesday, Sept. 11, causing a lockdown. Bloomfield High School was placed on lockdown after law enforcement was notified of two juveniles within the vicinity of the high school, Bloomfield police said in a release. Bloomfield High School was placed on lockdown after an unauthorized juvenile was located near the building on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11, authorities said. Officers were notified by high school staff about the juvenile and the building was placed on lockdown as law enforcement conducted a search, Bloomfield police said. Officers said the unauthorized individual left the area of the high school, police said. There were no reported injuries and everyone is safe, police said. South Brunswick High School was locked down early Wednesday, Jan. 31 because of an unspecified incident, authorities said. At 8:30 a.m., the South Brunswick School Resource Officer and high school administration placed the school on lockdown, South Brunswick police said. A student at Union Catholic High School was arrested after they brought a handgun to school on Monday, Jan. 22, authorities said. At 10:45 a.m., Scotch Plains police was alerted by the high school about a firearm being recovered, Jeffrey Briel, the chief of police, said. A Hudson County high school had resumed normal operations as of 11:30 a.m., after a threat placed it briefly in lockdown. A report of shots fired placed a Newark school on lockdown Friday, Nov. 4, authorities said. The call came in just before 3 p.m., near the Louise A.
