Man Ejected, Seriously Injured In Route 78 Crash That Jammed Traffic For Hours: Police
A 33-year-old man was ejected and seriously injured in a crash on Route 78 that left four others with minor injuries Friday in Bethlehem, New Jersey State Police said. A westbound Nissan Armada lost control, struck the center concrete barrier and overturned around 7:20 p.m. near mile post 9.8, NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry said. A fatal crash involving an overturned dump truck closed Route 78 in Union County Monday, authorities said. The crash occurred at mile post 43 in Berkley Heights, closing all eastbound lanes and the left center westbound lane, NJ State Police said. Jersey City Man Dead In I-78 Bridgewater Crash
A Jersey City man died in an overnight crash on Route 78 in Bridgewater early Tuesday morning. Davis M. Gwaro was heading east when he struck the left metal guardrail, then the right one around 1:05 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. He then struck a metal fence and a tree, and was subsequently pronounced dead, Marchan said. The crash remains under investigation.

A tractor-trailer driver was found with 121 pounds of marijuana and THC products worth more than $850,000 during a safety inspection on Route 78 in Warren County, state police said. Storm Zhu, 37, was stopped at the truck weigh station in Greenwich Township for a safety inspection while driving the trailer on Route 78 eastbound on June 14, state police said. 1 Dead In Route 78 SUV Fire, Crash
One person died in a fiery crash on Route 78 in the early morning hours Sunday. A BMW SUV went off the road to the left on the eastbound side at mile post 42 in Watchung Borough around 3:45 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said. The vehicle struck several trees and became fully engulfed in flames, killing the driver -- the only occupant whose identification remains pending. No other vehicles or passengers involved. The eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 5 hours. The accident remains under investigation.

Man Walking Along Route 78 Hit By Car, Hospitalized With Broken Leg
A man walking along Route 78 in Union County suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car Thursday night. The man was in the westbound lanes when he was struck by a Hyundai Elantra near milepost 50.4 around 10:40 p.m. in Union Townshp, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele said. The man was taken to University Hospital in stable condition for treatment of his leg. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Multiple people were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries in a Route 78 crash Friday morning in Bedminster. The incident occurred at mile marker 29.6 on the westbound side of the highway, when the Jeep driver somehow lost control and struck the trailer around 8:30 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt.
