A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle along Route 21 in Passaic on Tuesday, Oct. 22, authorities said. The unidentified male was struck by an Acura sedan while trying to cross the roadway in the northbound lanes around 8:05 p.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Department Chief Luis A. Guzman said. Two teenage drivers switched seats in a stolen vehicle while it was moving in a Clifton police pursuit, authorities said. A stolen car pursuit that began in Clifton ended with a crash in Newark and three occupants in the wind, authorities said. Clifton Police Officer Matthew Rugel was in the area of Broad Street and Elmwood Drive when he spotted the 2020 Audi, which had been reported stolen out of Hazlet and connected to subsequent crimes, shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. A Newark fire captain putting out a fire at a homeless encampment was hospitalized after a homeless man struck him with a can of food, city officials said. The firefighters had just finished putting out the blaze under Route 21 at Riverside Avenue when the man struck the captain with the can around 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, a statement reads. Teen Driver Rear-Ends Cement Truck On Route 21
A teen driver was hospitalized after rear-ending a cement truck on Route 21, authorities said. A 17-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Hyundai when he rear-ended a cement truck on Route 21 in Nutley on Friday, May 27, police said. The driver went unconscious and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The cement truck driver suffered minor injuries.
